Play of the Land is a community-driven platform where outdoor enthusiasts share local knowledge and insider tips. We call these tips "hacks"—the kind of information you'd only know if you've been there before or have a friend who lives nearby.

Whether you're looking for the best parking spot at a trailhead, a hidden restaurant the locals love, or the perfect time to avoid crowds, Play of the Land helps you travel like a local, not a tourist. Sharing your local knowledge helps fellow adventurers have better experiences.

Think about what you wish you'd known before your first visit!

• Create an account or sign in
• Click "Submit a Hack" in the navigation menu
• Select the location using search or browse
• Fill in the details: title, description, category, and activity type
• Add photos if you have them—they really help!
• Then Submit and help the community!

The best hacks are specific, actionable, and based on personal experience.

• Be specific: "Free parking at the north trailhead" is better than "Parking tip"
• Include the benefit: "Save $20 on lift tickets with this local discount"
• Keep it concise: Aim for a clear, descriptive title under 60 characters

• Location: placing a pin on the enclosed map (if relevant)
• Timing: season, day of week, time of day
• Additional Information: costs, links, requirements or limitations
• Photos: Add photos to help others find the spot

Choose the activity related to your hack (e.g., Cycling, Hiking, Skiing, Climbing, etc.).

Choose the category that best fits your hack (e.g., Parking, Transportation, Trailheads, Restaurants, Gear Rental, etc.).

There are three ways to find hacks for your destination:

• Search: Use the search feature to quickly find a city or town. Just start typing and select from the suggestions. This is the fastest way to find a specific destination.
• Browse: Use browse mode to explore by region. Select a continent, country, region, and place from the dropdown menus. This is great for discovering new destinations or exploring an unfamiliar area.

Filter: select hacks by category (parking, restaurants, etc.) and activity type (hiking, skiing, etc.) to find exactly what you need.

Found a hack you want to remember? Click the heart icon to add it to your favorites. Your favorited hacks are saved to your profile so you can easily find them later when planning your next adventure.
